Our Church’s Journey
Independence Christian Church formed in 1837 as a group of farming families met at a community meeting house, until the first church building was complete in 1897. As we grew and the community around us developed, we decided to build a new structure in the same place, completing this building in 1972.
We are a family united by faith and fellowship and we celebrate together by coming to the Lord’s Table each week. All are welcome to the Table as Christ has welcomed us. We are in covenant with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), enjoying our work in the larger church. We share God’s love with our neighbors through various projects in the community and invite you to make a difference as well.

Rev. Isaac Varner
Minister
Rev. Isaac has enjoyed being a part of the Independence family for over ten years. He adores his family: Cherie, his spouse, and Ziggy and Kaia, their two children. He loves exploring and sharing the gospel.
Kathy Martin
Administrative Assistant
Kathy runs the office here at Independence and helps get things done. She’s been serving over ten years in this capacity.
